AMD’s new chipset promises big performance increases with its Radeon HD 4290 graphics core and built-in SATA 6Gb/s controller. Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI sent their latest motherboards to help us find out how well 890GX and SB850 deliver on those promises.

sata 6 e dx 10.1 non mi sembrano un buon motivo per cambiare piastra. non capisco perchè non abbiano integrato nativamente la usb 3.0 e un chip grafico della serie 5000 con supporto dx 11 il tutto con processo produttivo a 40 nm anziche 55. così si che avrei cambiato piastra

Secondo me avranno solo una migliore compatibilità con i futuri processori a 6 core in poi sempre a 45 nm, in quanto penso che quando arriveranno le APU Llano a 32 nm con integrato la grafica serie 5000 non andranno già più bene. In pratica delle 790 con qualche aggiornamento (sata 6 e dx 10.1)

il supporto USB 3.0 anche se esterno secondo me è una buona motivazione per scegliere queste al posto delle precedenti...

Vorrei fare una piccola correzione: nello specchietto riassuntivo delle caratteristiche, alla voce "Sata 3.0 Gb/s" riguardo alla scheda Gigabyte avete scritto "No", mentre ci sono 2 porte di questo tipo, i connettori di colore bianco, che nella descrizione della scheda indicate come connettori eSata interni; nel manuale della scheda non si parla di connettori eSata interni, esse vengono indicate come due porte interne Sata II gestite dallo stesso controller che gestisce la porta IDE; tra l'altro hanno anche la funzione RAID (0, 1 e JBOD).

Mi aspettavo qualcosa di più dalla grafica integrata, va esattamente come il modello precedente, uguali.
Migliorata invece gestione usb/disco, almeno questo

La asus mi sembra molto buona, ma vorrei fare una considerazione di ordine generale vedendo lo scarno supporto dato da msi. Una volta le schede msi erano particolarmente accessoriate e fornivano ogni ben di pio, ne ho avute una mezza dozzina ed erano perfette, ora si presentano con una fornitura di accessori modello ecs o asrock. La crisi si sta facendo sentire e questi sintomi sono poco promettenti...dopo abit, dfi e tutte le altre case che potevano, e facevano, concorrenza qualitativa ai big. Sono molto rammaricato come cliente e fan msi e, oramai, di abit.
