Compatibilità dei processori grafici con i benchmark
Le prestazioni delle schede grafiche che supportano il PixelShader 2 non possono essere confrontate direttamente con quelle che utilizzano il PixelShader 2. Se un gioco come Age of Empires III o Black & White 2 supportano un motore shader di ultima versione, lo utilizzeranno per renderizzare gli effetti più complessi. In altre parole, le schede che supportano versioni shader più basse visualizzeranno meno effetti, raggiungendo prestazioni più elevate a causa del minor carico di lavoro. La stessa cosa vale per gli effetti ombra. Per esempio, i driver ATI automaticamente disabilitano le ombre lievi in F.E.A.R a partire dalla risoluzione di 1280x960 pixel, offrendo alla scheda prestazioni maggiori.
Ci sono da considerare delle differenze anche nella velocità di rendering dell'HDR. Attivare questa funzionalità in Seriuos Sam 2 può risultare in differenze dal 14% al 70% in base al processore grafico. Per assicurarci che i risultati siano confrontabili, abbiamo testato tutte le schede grafiche in base alla loro compatibilità e abbiamo raggruppato i risultati nei grafici utilizzando lo stesso criterio.
