Preparazioni per l'avvio del MobileMark 2005
Noi richiediamo che il produttore ci invii i laptop o i notebook da valutare con Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 già installato, ma a volte utilizziamo anche Windows XP Home se è il sistema operativo offerto come standard. Ogni volta utilizziamo il sistema operativo come è configurato dal produttore, senza installare o ripristinare Windows. Questo ci assicura che il computer in prova sia lo stesso che ogni utente può acquistare. Se abbiamo la necessità di reinstallare il sistema operativo, utilizziamo sempre il recovery CD compreso con il computer.
Ogni volta il portatile viene collegato a internet per effettuare la ricerca e l'installazione di nuovi aggiornamenti.
Rimuoviamo successivamente tutte le applicazioni e le utility inutili. Tra queste sono inclusi i software che possono andare in conflitto con i test di MobileMark 2005, come il Microsoft Office e i software utilizzati per bypassare gli accessi di default alla configurazione del sistema.
Successivamente stadardiziamo i vari parametri di configurazione per assicurarci che tutti i laptop e i notebook vengano testati con la stessa configurazione; la seguente tabella mostra i dettagli.
