Abbiamo confrontato la Maximus XI Hero con le schede madre a lei più simili di ASRock e Gigabyte: Z390 Taichi Ultimante, Z390 Aorus Master e Z390 Phantom Gaming 9. Non ci sono schede MSI in quanto non ne abbiamo testate di appartenenti a questa fascia di prezzo.
La configurazione di test è composta, oltre che dalla Maximus XI Hero e dal Core i9-9900K, da 32 GB di RAM HyperX Predator RGB DDR4-2933 (4x8GB), dissipatore Fractal Design Celsius S24, scheda video MSI GTX 1080 Armor OC, SSD PCIe Toshiba OCZ RD400 da 256 GB e alimentatore Corsair AX860i. Il tutto è stato installato all'interno di un Cooler Master HAF XB EVO, mentre per la scheda video sono stati utilizzati i driver GeForce 399.24.
