La Gamescom di Colonia si è conclusa e dalla fiera tedesca giunge la lista dei giochi che hanno impressionato i giudici internazionali nelle diverse categorie. Il gioco della fiera, cioè il "Best of Gamescom", è The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, che ovviamente vince anche nella categoria miglior gioco per Wii U. Il gioco di Nintendo aveva conquistato già lo scettro come miglior gioco dell'E3 2016.
PlayStation VR, il dispositivo per la realtà virtuale di PS4 che debutterà il prossimo 13 ottobre, ha vinto la categoria "Best Hardware". Il premio come miglior gioco di ruolo lo porta a casa Square Enix con Final Fantasy XV, la cui data di uscita è stata in questi giorni spostata al 29 novembre.
L'esclusiva PS4 Horizon: Zero Dawn riceve il premio come "Best Preview"; Sid Meier’s Civilization VI conquista il premio come miglior gioco di strategia, mentre Destiny: Rise of Iron vince nella categoria "Best Add-on/DLC".
In casa Microsoft Forza Horizon 3, che debutterà a settembre, vince nel genere Racing Game, e ben figurano anche For Honor di Ubisoft e Battlefield 1 di Electronic Arts, vincitori entrambi in due categorie.
