Impostazioni di prova
Dobbiamo mettere in chiaro una cosa rispetto al nostro primo articolo su Sandy Bridge-E. In quel pezzo abbiamo usato una scheda madre Intel DX79SI, insieme a un kit da 16 GB di G.Skill per misurare lo scaling nel bandwidth. Purtroppo quei moduli non operano oltre DDR3-1600, e così dobbiamo passare a una piattaforma alternativa.
Insieme a Intel abbiamo determinato che il firmware di quella scheda aveva un bug che impediva di caricare i profili XMP, e bisognava procedere all'impostazione manuale dei timing con frequenze più elevate. Un successivo aggiornamento ha risolto il problema, e ci ha permesso di usare la scheda madre per questi test.
Le barre blu che vedete nelle prossime pagine rappresentano tutti i processori testati con le impostazioni standard. Per tutte le piattaforme Sandy Bridge-E il test è stato realizzato su scheda madre DX79SI, come nel primo articolo, con 32 GB di memoria Crucial per aggirare ogni potenziale limitazione.
Le due barre rosse indicano invece le prestazioni della piattaforma a basso costo, standard e overcloccata; si tratta di una ASRock X79 Extreme4-M con memorie G.Skill F3-12800CL9Q-8GBZL.
