Il mercato delle schede video ha perso Point of View, un'azienda olandese che dal 2000 commercializzava prodotti Nvidia, anche in Italia.
La società ha presentato domanda di insolvenza, secondo quanto si apprende da fonti del paese. La corte di Oost-Brabant ha nominato un liquidatore. Non è chiaro se l'azienda possa essere salvata in qualche modo.
Probabilmente qualche lettore di vecchia data si ricorda di Point of View e magari ha anche una vecchia scheda video in soffitta. L'azienda godette di una discreta visibilità nel periodo in cui Nvidia presentò sul mercato la serie 8000 e poi quella 9000, per poi perdere via via lustro fino all'epilogo.
Per rimanere a galla Point of View (PoV) ha provato ad affiancare alle schede video una parte consumer con la vendita di tablet, portatili e accessori, ma non ha raccolto il successo sperato. Non sappiamo le vere cause del fallimento, ma di solito è un mix di errori di gestione e sviluppo del mercato.
Il settore delle schede video ha subito cambiamenti radicali nel corso degli ultimi anni e oggi un manipolo di marchi molto grossi mantiene il controllo sul settore. Difficile, se non impossibile, che un outsider s'inserisca e riesca a competere al meglio.
In ogni caso all'appassionato la scelta non manca, per cui addio Point of View, un doveroso saluto ma niente di più, inutile piangere sul latte versato.

Point of View ha emanato un comunicato stampa - sotto in forma intera in inglese - in cui specifica che la bancarotta riguarda Poin of View BV, braccio retail nel Benelux, e non l'intera Point of View, che a quanto pare è ancora viva pur vivendo momenti non facili. Earlier this week, POINT OF VIEW - a hardware brand most known for their NVIDIA based graphics cards - was incorrectly pronounced dead, as several websites published an article about the "Bankruptcy of Dutch hardware manufacturer POINT OF VIEW BV".
Due to miscommunication in the court reports, it created the misunderstanding that the brand POINT OF VIEW is dead. This is not the fact, and the brand will surely continue to exist. We kindly ask you to read this clarification of the situation and help us justify this error.
POINT OF VIEW BV was a subsidiary company part of the POINT OF VIEW GROUP that had its activities mainly in the retailing market in the Benelux. As last few years have shown us with the bankruptcy of several major retailing companies, the business climate in Europe is anything but healthy and this division has been terminated due to low demand and declined profitability in its operational market. The published articles this week did not account for the fact that POINT OF VIEW BV is only a part of the POINT OF VIEW GROUP.
The POINT OF VIEW GROUP consists of POINT OF VIEW HOLDING, POINT OF VIEW INTERNATIONAL, POINT DE VUE AFRIQUE, POINT OF VIEW ASIA, and MOBII SUPPLY PARTNER. All these entities are still fully operational. Clients of POINT OF VIEW BV have been notified and where possible, directed to the international subsidiary of the group. We can ensure that all clients of our companies will be taken care of also in the future. POINT OF VIEW as a brand is still going strong and will continue to proudly raise the Dutch flag as one of the few genuine European hardware manufacturers, founded and headquartered in the Netherlands.
