Motherboard - Intel southbridge 6321ESB
Siccome il sistema Skulltrail è basato su un chipset da workstation, usa un corrispondente Southbridge per workstation. L'Intel 6321ESB è connesso al 5400 tramite quattro piste PCI Express. La seguente tabella confronta un Southbridge ICH9 con il 6321ESB.

Chi volesse un controller per floppy deve usare un chip aggiuntivo connesso al Southbridge tramite bus PCI. Tuttava non è necessario: non abbiamo avuto alcun problema ad aggiornare il BIOS tramite una chiavetta USB.
