Intel ci ha inviato una delle proprie soluzioni P4000 e una scheda madre W2600CR.
Crucial ci ha fornito 96 GB di memoria DDR3-1600 da abbinare alle piattaforme Xeon E5 5500/5600. Le DDR3-1333 sono molto più comuni, ma non sono in grado di spingere i nostri Xeon E5 alla velocità massima con un modulo per canale. I moduli registered sono più lenti rispetto alle memorie unbuffered, ma abbiamo ottenuto un uso del bandwidth di memoria migliore usando l'hardware di Crucial anziché un kit desktop quad-channel da 32 GB.

Abbiamo chiesto ad AMD se volesse partecipare in questo articolo, ma ci ha detto che non gioca più in questo settore. L'azienda ha un chipset per workstation (SR5690) che ci avrebbe fatto piacere vedere impegnato in questo ambito.
